西盟佤族自治县隶属于云南省普洱市，位于云南省西南部，普洱市西部的阿佤山区，其东、东北、东南部与澜沧县接壤，南部与孟连县相接，西、西北部主要与缅甸禅帮第二特区佤邦勐冒县的栋玛区、龙潭区、岩城区、营盘区和勐能县的南亢伍区接壤。国境线长达89.33公里，境内东西横距40公里，南北纵距60公里，总面积1353.57平方公里。
